Mental Health

Why is this important?

Every morning, one in every six working-aged persons will enter their workplace and begin their day managing a diagnosed mental illness. A further one in six will be suffering from symptoms associated with ill mental health.

Australian businesses are losing $10.9 billion each year to mental health-related issues. Over the past year, 21 per cent of Australians have taken time off work due to feeling stressed, anxious, depressed or mentally unhealthy.

Suicide is the leading cause of death in Australia among 15-44 year olds. This represents a large part of someone’s working life.

How we help our customers make a difference

When you contact HSE Global, we won’t just offer you a quick fix. We will take the time to understand your organisation and your people, and ask you questions that go deeper than just “What is it that you want?”.

At HSE Global, we will ask “What is genuinely important for you? What is it that you want to improve? And why now?”. We call this an Environmental Scan, and it gets to the heart of what is going to produce genuine, longstanding investments in your workplace mental health.

Mental Health Fitness

In today’s world, the concept of physical fitness is well known. It is a state of general good health and wellbeing, that allows a person to perform specific tasks (such as sports or work tasks), whilst also helping to protect a person against developing/managing health conditions (such as diabetes or certain heart conditions). We are also aware that it is an activity; one that needs to be invested in every day (for example, with diet and exercise), rather than something that can ever be considered ‘ticked off’.

Mental fitness is very similar to physical fitness. When we are mentally fit, we flourish. We are able to meet the challenges of daily life, manage our stress in helpful ways, and feel confident in our ability to navigate our world. True mental fitness also requires daily investment, just like physical fitness. Mental fitness means more than just an absence of a mental illness; it is about going “from good, to great”.

HSE Global offers four different Mental Fitness programmes, which can cater and be adapted to different individual, team and organisational needs.
