Join Emma Boucher (Mental Health and Wellbeing Facilitator and Senior Psychologist) and Kara Wise (Director, Commercial Partnerships and Mental Health) as they speak about A proactive workplace approach to mental fitness @ work.

Abstract

Supporting the mental health of employees is an issue of growing importance. The evidence is clear that creating a mentally healthy workplace boosts productivity, reduces accidents, and improves employee engagement.

HSE Global’s Mental Fitness model takes a proactive and preventative approach to workplace mental health through reducing stigma, promoting psychological flexibility, and building resilience. The session will provide an overview of evidence based, best practice interventions for workplace mental health, practical application of the Mental Fitness 3 key actions and how to successfully implement sustainable outcomes.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • Understand the Mental Fitness Continuum
  • How to recognise signs of declining mental health in employees and colleagues
  • Develop 3 key actions to pro-actively offer support
  • Application of strategic organisational approaches proactively manage mental health

Speaker Biography

Emma BoucherEmma has spent over 20 years working in the mental health field working with individuals, groups and teams across small businesses, large corporations, government departments and educational institutions. Emma has a wealth of experience in providing EAP, CI response, RTW programs and staff training. Emma is a passionate advocate for mental health and is dedicated to assisting organisations to reduce stigma, promote early intervention and enhance recovery from mental illness. Emma has a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons), Post Graduate Diploma of Psychology, and Master of Human Nutrition, and Principal Master Mental Health First Aid Standard and Youth Instructor.

Speaker Biography

Kara WiseKara works across Europe, Asia, ANZ and US, with Private&Public organisations, Government, Mental Health and Safety Authorities. With a background in business strategy and analytics, she’s spent the last 15 years supporting and enabling organisations in strategic planning, ISO alignment, cognitive behavioural therapy, exposure-based safety, neuroscience, safety leadership, culture change and mental wellbeing in the workplace. She chaired the Global Thought Leadership Committee across Canada, UK and ANZ and is a former senior lecturer/convenor at Swinburne and Monash universities. A Masters in Business from Monash University, post-graduate degree in Design-Thinking, MHFA accredited and holds a Prime Ministers Award for Community Leadership.
